The sandals have a kind of metal type chain mail across the foot which I like a lot but have not worn in public much. It's scary because people hate them but I have great feet and sandals are my thing. I even took a picture of my feet in them on my camera phone and would never erase it because it is so good. I think the key to the gladiator is simple straps and details, though I do think they are probably wrong for most people.... especially suburbanites!! ha ha jk.
