These are all great ideas for hanging jewelry! I have been going crazy for months trying to come up with something. The only problem is that I do not want them on display, nor do I have any closet wall space or back of the door space. I found some VERY EXPENSIVE long/narrow wall mounted jewelry cabinets online, but can't purchase any due to price. I was thinking about cork boards, or even saw those hooks at Target. But once again, I need something with doors around it so it's not displayed. I went to a few stores looking for a thin medicine cabinet or bathroom storage cabinet- but most were huge or expensive. I already have a mirror in my bedroom and this will be mounted close to the mirror, so some medicine cabinets weren't appropriate anyway. SUGGESTIONS??????? THANKS!!!!

Thanks for all of the ideas they helped me brainstorm...I used a pants hanger from the cleaners (with the cardboard tube) and hot glued tiny pompoms about an inch apart to create spaces for 16 necklaces. I made 4 of these quickly and can hang them in my closet or on the wall close to my closet, very handy.

I found Screw-On Stackable Containers in small, medium and large sizes at a local Dollar Store. In addition to keeping my necklaces tangle free, my jewelry is clearly organized by size and color. I stack the containers in a wide/shallow cupboard that allows me to see almost everything at a glance.

I was looking for some ideas to hang my long necklaces and the one mentioned by Kyla can be purchased on line at:

http://www.adaysworkmusiceducation.com/gifts.htm#JewelryOrganizer

I have a pocket door so leaves my choices to the walls. I am thinking I will buy the tie rack and paint it or mount it on a larger piece of painted material or a frame and treat it like wall art.

Oh my gosh! I love this idea! Thank you so much!

I totally have this problem with my necklace and I have been looking for the perfect fix for it.

Plus I love your blog. I'm so glad I found it. I just moved from California to outside the Seattle area. I have lived in California my whole life so your tips have been so great for me! Thanks!

Have a great day.

I do that too :)

And for earrings, I put them in those beading boxes with the small separate compartments? Keeps them from tangling, and keeps the pairs together!!

This is almost just what I do. I found one of those rotating tie racks at a garage sale and use that. I put only one necklace on each tie holder, though, and only my bead necklaces, I still keep my chain necklaces in discrete piles in a jewelry box with compartments.

One thing that minimizes tangling is to always close the clasps again before putting things away. It doesn't perfectly prevent tangling, but it helps quite a bit.

Has anyone heard of the jewelry forest? It's an artsy-looking piece of metal sculpture made to look like a small stand of stick-like trees. It sits on a heavy base. The idea is to hang your neclaces from the higher branches and use the smaller, lower ones for rings and bracelets. It looks like an interesting idea, altho I'd think you have to be careful of tangles among the trees.
