I firmly believe that this is true because it sends an instant positive non-verbal message. But you do not need to be dressy to look sophisticated. The two are often confused. Dressing smart casually is a safe way to go if you're allowed to wear jeans to work. Otherwise you'll be treated as naive or something else. I'm a young engineer and just moved from China Beijing to Seattle. I used to love cute or cool clothes very much and I just go to work with my those I love, juch as t-shirt with cool pictures. My current office don't have any requirement for clothes. But can anybody tell me anything about the US culture about dress in office? Is it important to look sophisticated?
