One color I'm seeing a lot of in the swimwear world this year is RED. Of course, Turq is always a hit too, but the red is especially showing up in the glamorous, Hollywwod style one pieces. It's just a knock out...so sexy too!

I'm happy that you are excited Jing. T-shirts from AF and AE are an ultra casual teenage fashion look. You might like to step up the sophistication level here. Keep that AF and AE look for weekends and start to adopt a smart casual dress code for work. It's flop proof!

So excited to see Angie's reply! Actually I'm working in a software company that does not require anything about dress and where never lack of geeks. :) I like that post you recommand, and yes, I wear jeans everyday with a little bit layered top, or some cute t-shirt, which are AF and AE style(I hope it's not too naive :)). Learn so much from your blog, thank you!

This is fascinating Jing. First of all, how to dress appropriately and stylishly at the office depends on the office and it's culture/dress code. Secondly, "conservative" is relative. What you deem conservative clothing, might not be perceived that way in another country and vice versa. Thirdly, it's important to incorporate a level of current sophistication to any work look. I firmly believe that this is true because it sends an instant positive non-verbal message. But you do not need to be dressy to look sophisticated. The two are often confused. Dressing smart casually is a safe way to go if you're allowed to wear jeans to work. Read this blog entry for starters and then use the search facility on this site to gather more information on this type of dress code.

I'd love to hear other opinions on this topic.

I love the colorful clothes, I really do. But I'm confused these days:
I saw a discussion on a Chinese forum from some Chinese ladies who are living in US: don't show your fashion or taste in office. Always dress conservatively. Otherwise you'll be treated as naive or something else. I'm a young engineer and just moved from China Beijing to Seattle. I used to love cute or cool clothes very much and I just go to work with my those I love, juch as t-shirt with cool pictures. My current office don't have any requirement for clothes. But can anybody tell me anything about the US culture about dress in office? Is it important to look sophisticated? If so, I wonder when do you have the chance to wear those fashionable, favorite clothes? I'm really curious. :)
Thanks in advance.

This is great news - both for patterns and colors. I'm a bit bored with all the blacks and greys in my wardrobe and can't wait to go shopping for some color!

I adore different versions of lime green (they are not created equally). I prefer a more yellow or chartreuse version and like the shade when it's mixed with a pinky purple, yellow, clean blue, ink blue or white. It's so fresh and reminds me of sorbet.
