[...] It’s also fun to add bohemian elements into a modern urban style. Try white or dark jeans with a silky empire cut bat-winged top, heeled silver wedges, pearls and patent handbag. I have one bohemian top and that’s the way I like to interpret the boho chic trend. [...]

[...] This seasons “it” shoe is the wedge. The ‘70’s shoe trend has been modernized, but ethnic versions remain a good choice if there is a hippy chic aspect to your style. With heels soaring to new highs, the slick aesthetic of the wedge is virtually sculptural. The choice of looks and materials is endless. You’ll see anything from cork, raffia and wood, to Lucite, patent, metallic and woven fabrications. Heel heights are either high or low, and platforms are particularly “of the moment”. [...]

I sorta collect ethnic pieces - which I loved then & love now - that's my idea of hippy chic - & since you can see knock offs of it at Chico's, for example - not out of style. But I like the real thing - old kimonos - embroidered shirts and so on.

Just got some old Mexican ones at a vintage shop that mirror those I see at stylish places for $100+ & mine were less than $10...Depends what you wear the look for - I wore an African-inspired jacket with old natural fiber yoga pants (matching color) and a newer long-sleeved t with a vintage silver necklace to church for Easter in the last minute, due to it being cooler...Ok - they do comment favorably on my fabulous hippy outfits - for business - you would probably have to tone it down - unless you were in entertainment or the like...

I love the bohemian look and absolutely agree that it should be combined with a more classic or tailored look. The tops are flirty and feminine. (I didn't even know it was the hippy look until you pointed it out last year.) I pair boho tops with suits and slacks for work and jeans or walking shorts for play.

What do you think of the adage: if you wore it the first time around, you are too old to wear it this time? I love the hippy look and I like your idea of sophisticating it up.
